I Will Be With You

A few weeks ago I decided that I once again wanted to try and read through the Bible. Yes, you are reading correctly. This lady has never read her Bible from cover to cover in all my years of being a Believer in Jesus. Don't get me wrong, I've read the New Testament plenty of times as well as the Psalms and a few other "easy" books of the Old Testament, but I have never sat down and made it through from Genesis to Revelation.

In 2020, I did start this endeavor, but I had only made it through to Psalms. And once I got there, my desire? my ambition? just left. Obviously, it was during the pandemic, so that could have had some bearing on that, but I'm not sure. I do want to say that I had finally read some OT books that I know I had never read before - like Judges. I had always thought this would have been one of the "boring-est" books, but I was wrong. This book was nothing like I was thinking it was going to be. Surprise, surprise 😀 For this time, though, I found a "Read the Bible in One Year" guideline that will hopefully help me make through to the end.

I say all of this as I wanted to lay out a bit of background because in the upcoming weeks and months, some of my posts (like this one) will be things that I feel God was showing or highlighting to me as I read.

Today I was reading in Exodus 3 about when God was speaking to Moses through the burning bush, and how God was going to use Moses to rescue the Israelites from the land of Egypt. What was Moses' response after hearing this?

v 11 "But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

v 12a And God said, "I will be with you."

The parts that I made bold is what spoke to me today.

How many times have you and I said, "Lord! Who am I that I should _______?"

Should go somewhere? Should do something? Should say something? And we hesitate because we don't want to do it, we don't feel we have the time to do it, we aren't sure if we should or that we even heard You correctly. Or probably the most common response - I'm scared. What if I fail? What will other people think? The excuses can be endless.

But what did God say to Moses? He said, "I will be with you"! If He said it to Moses, you can be certain that He is saying it to you and me as well.

Why do we fear when the God of creation, the author of Life, the Lion of Judah is with us?! Oh, why indeed do we doubt and fear?

I pray that starting today we all will remember that when Father God is asking us to do __________, then He will be right there with us!
